MEET THE ARTIST:

Danielle Wood

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP: I grew up in a rural town called Street, MD.

WHEN DID YOU FIRST BECOME INTERESTED IN FASHION/STYLING: In middle school, nothing ever fit me right, so I decided I needed to learn how to sew. I became obsessed with it. I started going to thrift stores and completely redoing what I found there. From there I just went down a rabbit hole of wanting to learn more and more about fashion.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE LOOK THAT YOU’VE CREATED: I love when I get to work with kids. I had a shoot where the model was a seven year old girl and she was a little fashionista. She was so excited to be there and didn’t want to leave at the end of the day. She brought a lot of amazing options with her. Every look we collaborated on that day was my favorite. Sparkly pink cowboy boots, paired with a mustard textured pant and suspenders combo? Yes, please.

WHERE DO YOU DRAW INSPIRATION FOR YOUR WARDROBE STYLE? My friends, grandmothers, movies, people on the street.

IF YOU WEREN'T A STYLIST WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING INSTEAD: Optometry

WHAT SONG GETS STUCK IN YOUR HEAD MOST OFTEN: Bitter Sweet Symphony by the Verve. I often play it on the drive home from a shoot. It reminds me of being 16 and driving winding country roads with the windows down.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE ERA OF FASHION: It is so hard to pick one. Maybe the 1960s? I love them all.

WHAT IS THE ONE ITEM OF CLOTHING THAT YOU WEAR MOST OFTEN: I have a 1940s french blue work shirt that I wear pretty much once a week. I’m going to need to find another one soon.

WHAT WOULD THE TITLE OF YOUR AUTOBIOGRAPHY BE: A Lady of Love, Labor, and Leisure

WHAT IS THE HARDEST THING YOU'VE EVER DONE: I had my son on April 30th, 2020. Being pregnant and navigating what I thought was best for my baby and me during a global pandemic was HARD.

WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU LAUGHED SO HARD IT HURT: My son does this thing when he eats pasta, where he gets real excited and shakes his head back and forth and makes a squealing sound. The first time he did it my husband and I could not stop laughing.

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET TALENT: I’m a serious vacation planner. I love finding the most luxurious place that has all the things everyone wants while still being under budget. I probably get that from previously working as a producer. I go overboard.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO DANCE MOVE: I’ve stolen all of Uma Thurman's dance moves from Pulp Fiction and like to casually mix them in with my awkward shift from one foot to the other.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO UNWIND AFTER A BUSY DAY: Sitting on my front porch with a gin and tonic in hand.

WHAT ITEM OF CLOTHING DO YOU WEAR TO FEEL YOUR BEST? A full monochromatic look in fun color. I need all the things to feel my best!
