MEET THE ARTIST:

Isa Zapata

WHERE DID YOU GROW UP: A little bit of everywhere! Mostly across Europe with a few years spent in Egypt and Mexico as well.

WHEN DID YOU FIRST BECOME INTERESTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY: In high school, when I realized I could create optical illusions in Photoshop - I was HOOKED.

WHAT INSPIRES YOU: Music, for sure. But also the earth! Dew in the morning, a blooming garden, or how a forest smells after the rain. I’ve never had an artist’s block that a little walk in nature couldn’t cure.

WHAT ARE ONE OR TWO OF YOUR FAVORITE MOMENTS FROM PAST SHOOTS: Well, I recently had my first photoshoot in my very own studio! That was pretty special. Otherwise… probably getting to take home a whole cheesecake (and it was from Junior’s!)

IF YOU WEREN'T A PHOTOGRAPHER WHAT WOULD YOU BE DOING INSTEAD: Hmm… most likely a marine biologist! That’s what I studied in college, and manatees have a special place in my heart.

WHO IS YOUR FAVORITE HISTORICAL FIGURE: DaVinci! As someone who loved making my own languages as a kid, seeing a few of his original notebook pages with his secret codes in Milan was SO cool.

WHAT SONG GETS STUCK IN YOUR HEAD MOST OFTEN: Blues Skies - Ella Fitzgerald

WHAT IS YOUR SPIRIT ANIMAL: Manatee ;)

IF YOU COULD ONLY EAT ONE FOOD FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHAT WOULD IT BE? Probably … arancini! There’s something about a fried cheese pull that just feels right.

WHAT IS THE ONE ITEM OF CLOTHING THAT YOU WEAR MOST OFTEN: I’m a sweater fanatic - love anything oversized, soft, and cozy.

WHAT WOULD THE TITLE OF YOUR AUTOBIOGRAPHY BE: LaCroix: Learning To Live With My Addiction

WHAT IS THE HARDEST THING YOU'VE EVER DONE: Getting evacuated from Egypt during the Arab Spring, and moving to the U.S. for the first time.

WHEN'S THE LAST TIME YOU LAUGHED SO HARD IT HURT: Every day when I make myself laugh.

WHAT IS YOUR SECRET TALENT: Not so secret… but I’ll whip out a Manchester accent whenever possible.

WHAT IS YOUR GO-TO DANCE MOVE: Cumbia, baby!

WHAT IS THE STRANGEST THING IN YOUR REFRIGERATOR: A giant Costco jar of minced garlic (like … really giant)

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE WAY TO UNWIND AFTER A BUSY DAY: Snuggling with my foster dog, making dinner, listening to music, and a good TV show!
